Are We Defined By Our Suffering?
The more I read history, the more it seems to be the general sentiment. This person suffered, his/her story is worth recounting. I dislike this view. Suffering may be an important part of human existence, but it isn't necessarily important just because its painful. Call me heartless, but I don't care about all the sob-stories history has to offer. I can appreciate courage or somthing like that, but the endless suffering and cruelty bugs me. I get that people suck. I dunno. I'd like to make this post more thoughtful but I needa get back to my readings. Fucking portraiture midterm tomorrow morning, and yes, I'm starting studying tonight. Honestly, I might not be sleeping tonight, there is a shit load of material I need to cover/memorize. Never take a class on chinese portraiture. Its boring material and the art is pretty damn mediocre (seriously, the most famous artists we've learned so far werent chinese...they were nepalese and italian...yea...china fucking sucks at drawing). Doesn't help that my instructor is a fucking idiot. Maybe that's unfair, but she is 100% clueless on how to teach a course. Add on top of that her english being, well, far from fluent, and you have one nightmare of a class.
